SOAR National held a campaign to help save the life of Armenian baby Monika Grigoryan.

Mother and father Gayane and Andranik received the news no parent wants to hear – your baby has cancer. Two-year-old baby Monika Grigoryan, Gayane and Andranik’s only child, has been diagnosed with hepatoblastoma (liver cancer).

Andranik is the head of the communications and cybersecurity department of the Artsakh Defense Army and fought in the 2020 Artsakh War. During the war, their home was damaged, so the family was temporarily displaced to Yerevan. The family survived the war, but now they have a new battle to face.

SOAR South Carolina Bingo Fundraiser – Through Armenian Martyr’s Day, April 24th

In honor of the 107th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, SOAR South Carolina raised funds for orphaned Armenian children in memory of those in the past to help those in our present.

SOAR Chicago held a very successful Armenian Wine Tasting Event at Sayat Nova!

SOAR Chicago hosted a table at the Evanston Picnic, the last Armenian picnic of the summer!

They raffled off a beautiful hand-carved Backgammon set brought back from Armenia by board member Telma Landhornian.

They brought awareness of SOAR to the community and promoted their upcoming Armenian Wine Tasting event.

In 2021, SOAR Cincinnati was crucial in providing much needed funding to the Bagyants family, and Chapter President Nune Sargsyan renewed her commitment to the family with a birthday fundraiser in 2022 to raise additional funds to renovate the space and purchase the equipment to open the bakery.

With arrangements made by Manana Mananyan, SOAR Armenia Foundation Development Manager, an opening ceremony was held in June at the new Bagyants Bakery with Nune Sargsyan attending in person, along with family, friends, the clergy, government officials, NGO representatives, and media. Next to the bakery, the family also opened a small shop selling fresh fruits and vegetables.

SOAR Istanbul Chapter organized a city-tour for the kids of SOAR in July 2022. Board member Marko Zerunyan guided the group around the old town, and they visited Beyoğlu Surp Yerrortutyun Armenian Church together where these photos were taken. The Istanbul Chapter is looking forward to organizing many more cultural tours in the future.

SOAR Minneapolis board member, , Facebook fundraiser in honor of the 10-year anniversary of her mom’s passing. The fundraiser is for a cause her mother would have loved given her passion for the sciences.

She has established the Chunmei Guo Memorial Scholarship Fund to sponsor the college education of 18-year-old Ella Antanosyan, who is studying in the Department of Computer Science and Math at Yerevan State University in Armenia. Ella is a resident at Our Lady of Armenia Annie Bezikian Center in Kanaker.

SOAR Montebello Food Truck Event Raised Over $2300 for SOS Children’s Village Sports & Hobbies.

Held at Montebello Holy Cross, attendees from the local community came out to enjoy great food, company, and music to fundraise for sports and hobbies for the orphans at SOS Children’s Village in Kotayk!

SOS Children’s Villages Armenia is a residential facility that provides care to orphaned Armenian children and children experiencing difficult life circumstances.
