Eva Magaryan from Sisters of Charity has made tremendous progress. She can speak both English and Armenian fluently, her cognitive skills are growing. She is able to stand on her own for at least 20 seconds and her leg strength is improving daily!

Updates from Children's Home of Gyumri

Frida Barseghyan is now 4 years old. SOAR continues to help with her medical needs.
Samvel Hovhannisyan is now 8 years old. SOAR continues to help provide for his therapy sessions.
Vigen Asatryan is now 11 years old. He continues to get assistance with all his medical needs.
Lia Karapetyan is now 1 year and 4 months old. She continues to receive assistance for her medical needs. She is progressing in her motor skills.
Karen Petrosyan is 4 years old now. He has had significant positive progress, likes to play with toys, especially bright colored sound toys. He listens carefully and follows simple instructions without delay. His therapist is working on cognitive and mental spheres.
Narek is almost 11 years old and continues to receive needed medical assistance. He especially loves swimming which has improved his mobility.

NOVEMBER

Levon and Lilit of Children's Home of Gyumri received the surgical procedures they needed that will give them both a change to walk!

Lilit was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, and osteoarthritis of both hips.

Levon was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, osteoarthritis of the left hip, and deformity of the feet.

Both received surgical procedures that will help Lilit and Levon with mobility, pain reduction, and the start of rehabilitation. They both now have a chance to walk properly!

The health condition of Arsen is not improving. He has problems with walking and walks with a stick as his leg is swollen. He rarely comes to Orran, instead food packages are delivered to his house. From time to time, he has to visit the doctors in Yerevan. The doctors are not sure whether his leg surgery will be successful since Arsen has hemophilia A.  If not treated promptly, joint bleeding can lead to permanent joint damage and disfigurement.  Arman who is Arsen’s main caregiver, was given funds to attend driving classes to be able to find an employment.

Armine Dokholyan is in her second year of studies at Vanadzor State University Department of English language and literature. SOAR continues to support her with educational expenses and clothing.

Updates from SOAR Transitional Center, Gyumri

Astghik Mkitaryan and Zhenya Muradyan from the SOAR Transitional Center, have become independent, moving into their own apartment together with another young lady. They will continue their education and work but are no longer participating in the Center’s activities. We are assured that they have learned skills to become self-sufficient during their stay at the Center and will be successful in all their endeavors.

AUGUST

Updates from Warm Hearth

Gohar participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. She takes sewing, pottery, and carpet weaving classes. She celebrated her birthday and went shopping!
Armen takes pottery and sewing classes. For his birthday he celebrates with his friends.
Artur participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. He takes sewing and pottery classes. On his birthday he went shopping at Dalma Shopping Center.
Bavakan takes pottery and sewing classes. This fall she will start cooking classes at Republican 2 Educational Complex. On her birthday she was excited to pick out her own gifts.
Hrach takes pottery and sewing classes. He loves going on the group and individual excursions. For his birthday he was excited to go shopping and select his own gifts.
Arthur participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. He takes pottery and sewing classes. Arthur also works at the community store as the fruit seller's assistant.
Natasha participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. She takes, pottery, carpet weaving, and sewing classes. For her birthday she picked out her own gifts at Dalma Shopping Center.
Edita is in her second year of cooking classes at Republican Special Educational Complex. She also attends sewing, pattern, and pottery classes.
Kristine participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. She takes carpet weaving, pottery, and sewing classes as well as teaches macrame to the other residents. For her birthday she went shopping at Dalma Shopping Center.
Jhanna takes carpet weaving, pottery, and sewing classes. She works in a community store which she enjoys very much. Jhanna is deaf and mute but has learned to use a special book that allows her to communicate.
Dianna takes sewing, patterns, and pottery classes. She is also very good at embroidery.
Siranush takes sewing and pottery classes and this year she will be taking cooking classes at the Republican Special Educational Complex.
Hasmik participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition and continues to take pottery, sewing, and carpet weaving classes.
Mareta takes sewing, patterns, and pottery classes.
Roman teaches paper mache classes and takes sewing and pattern classes also learning to use a sewing machine.
Agappy participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. She continues to take pottery, carpet weaving, and sewing classes and teaches drawing.
Alina continues to take carpet weaving, pottery, and sewing classes.
Anahit participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. She continues to take cooking, carpet weaving, pottery, and sewing classes.
Armine participated in "I CAN" 2022 in the rowing competition. She continues to take carpet weaving, pottery, pattern, and sewing classes. She is not also taking cooking classes.
Fatima will be starting her 2nd year of cooking classes. She also takes sewing, pattern making, and pottery classes.
Davit cultivates and waters the facility's garden. He also takes sewing and pattern making classes.
Gayane learned to make pastries on her own. She baked and sold her eclairs for New Years. She continues to take pottery, carpet weaving, and sewing classes and has learned how to use a sewing machine.
Nazeli will be starting her 2nd year of cooking classes. She will also be attending sewing, pattern making, and pottery classes.

JUNE

Eva Margaryan at Sisters of Charity, Bethlehem
Eva Margaryan at Sisters of Charity received the shunt she needed for her operation in 2018 after being diagnosed with intraventricular hemorrhage and intracranial hypertension. Today Eva is doing very well; she is happy and healthy. Even with her physical limitations, she speaks and understands short sentences in both Armenian and English!

Ala Antanosyan graduated from the Faculty of History of Yerevan State University and will be taking her entrance exams for graduate school this summer.
Anahit Mardoyan completed her second year of studies at the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University.
Anahit Chobanyan graduated from the Yerevan State University the Faculty of International Relationships, Public Administration. She will be taking her entrance exams this summer to begin her graduate studies in the fall.
Anahit Aleksanyan has completed her second year studying at the Faculty of Geography and Geology in Yerevan State University. She also completed a 10-day training and educational practice in the village of Byurakan.
Ani Abrahamyan completed her first year of studies at the French University in Armenia.
Arevik Manasyan completed her third year at Yerevan State University faculty of International Relations.
Ella Antanosyan completed her first year at Yerevan State University, Department of Computer Science and Government Mathematics.
Flora Mkrtchyan completed her first year at the State Linguistic University.
Gayane Hovhannisyan graduated from Yerevan State Humanitarian College. She will continue graduate studies at Yerevan Polytechnic University.
Izolda Suqiasyan completed her first year of her master's studies in the faculty of Organization of Education.
Karine Antanosyan finished her second year at Yerevan State University, faculty of Philology.
Lala Antanosyan graduated from Yerevan State University, Faculty of European Languages and Communication. She will be taking her entrance exams this summer to pursue her graduate studies.
Lusya Karapetyan graduated from her Master's studies at the Yerevan State Conservatory.

Updates from Kharberd Orphanage

Anahit Nshanyan is involved in the pottery workshop program. She likes making sculptures and paints them in bright colors. Anahit participates in the ''bochia'' sport program and does well in sports competitions. She is involved in ''Chakhruk'' ethno-music project as a musician and a singer.
Angelina Harutyunyan continues to work on developing her speech. She attends '' N2 Republican Special School'' where she studies cooking. She has lessons with a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and pottery. Angelina attends the ''Chakhruk'' ethno-music studio and plays an instrument and sings.
Anna Gevorgyan is involved in the home-schooling program. Her favorite activity is being outside and observing the environment.
Anna Yerkanyan is very fond of music and participates in art-therapy. Anna likes to go for walks and observe the environment.
Aren Avetisyan likes to listen to music, watch football, and go for walks. He is very fond of animals and feeds them when he sees them. His is involved in home-schooling and other rehabilitation programs that help him to develop his communication and orientation skills.
Arman Hakobyan continues to participate in the pottery and wood workshops. These help him develop his concentration, creativity, and life skills.
Armen Arakelyan is attending physical rehabilitation therapies and has successfully overcome a lot of problems related to the gastroenterological issues.
Armen Papakchyan attends art-therapy sessions. He is very fond of sand therapy, drawing, and music.
Arsen Khachatryan is involved in the ''Chakhruk'' ethno-music project as a musician. He is fond of animals, especially horses, and helps the hippo-therapist to take care of them. Arsen has participated in international and local music festivals of people with special needs. Arsen loves sport and took place in a para-rafting championship.
Arsen Margaryan is involved in pottery and wood workshops. This has helped to develop his hand and finger motor skills. Currently he is trying to use spoon himself to become more independent. Arsen has been attending the ''Chakhruk'' ethno-music studio.
Arthur Ghazaryan is busy with alternative drawing by using his hands, and other materials to develop his minor motor skills, orientation, and color recognition. He is involved in home school sessions.
Artiom Davtyan is involved in the pottery workshop. When he started his attendance to the pottery workshop, he was able to knead the raw clay, but now he cuts the clay with an adapted tool and soothes the edges. As a result, he has developed his motor skills and self-esteem.
Vardan Markosyan participates in progression group games gaining progress in his motor skills and abilities.
Jon is involved in wood workshop program. His new interest in wood helps him to express his feelings, overcome the longing for his mother and little sister, and develop self-awareness.

MAY

Artyom Davtyan at Kharberd Orphanage had his birthday wishes come true! He had a special birthday cake and received a Bluetooth microphone with voice affects and a charger.

Loucine K from Armenian Evangelical Boarding School, Lebanon continues to receive assistance with her educational and day to day needs. We have been told that Loucine is growing and maturing. The directors inform us they are witnessing how caring and loving she is becoming. Last month she had a haircut to donate to a lady with breast cancer.
