The Lara T. Arabatlian Memorial Medical Scholarship, established by SOAR’s Executive Board in April 2015, is endowed with a $500.00 donation each calendar year. The Fund is earmarked for an orphaned Armenian child with special needs, in memory of Lara Arabatlian. The funds will be used exclusively for special medical expenditures.
Lara Arabatlian was born February 17, 2000. She was an amazingly strong little girl born with a hypoplastic left heart that required major surgery in the newborn period. Given the seriousness of the condition, Lara required extensive medical care and various speech, physical and occupational therapies.
Lara’s favorite people were her Dad, Mom and big sister Celine. She moved everyone she met with her infectious laughter and a special twinkle in her eye. Lara loved the Armenian singer Taline, The Wiggles and Barbies and carried around their paraphernalia wherever she went. Lara was always full of laughter and loved being with people. Her warm heart surrounded all those around her with love.
