SOAR - Fresno Chapter

SOAR-Fresno was launched in July 2011. With an Armenian population of approximately 30,000 people, Fresno has nine Armenian churches and dozens of Armenian institutions and organizations and is one of the best known self-contained Armenian communities in the United States.

Harut Fereshetyan
President

Harut Fereshetyan, a first-generation Armenian-American and experienced special education teacher based in Fresno, California, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Special Education.

With over a decade of dedication to teaching diverse age groups, he currently serves as an instructional lead for Homebridge, a San Francisco non-profit. Inspired by his mother’s caregiving legacy, Harut passionately educates IHSS providers statewide, ensuring comprehensive support for caregivers.

Beyond education, he brings over 10 years of soccer coaching experience and, together with his wife Anay, they have served as foster parents in the past, highlighting their dedication to mentoring youth in Fresno. Harut is an advocate for inclusive education, believing in the potential for success in individuals of all abilities.

Daniel Loughrey

Daniel Loughrey is a Fresno native and a first generation American on his mother’s side (Italy). With a keen interest in Armenian history and culture (minor in Armenian Studies from Fresno State), Daniel is excited and humbled to be part of the Fresno chapter. Daniel is a graduate of Fresno State (B.A.), Thomas Jefferson (B.S.), and Fitchburg State (M.B.A).

He has worked in the nonprofit sector (health, law, education, immigration) for 10+ years and enjoys playing soccer, bicycling, and traveling when not at work or spending time with his family.

Seroun Mouradian

Seroun Mouradian is a San Francisco native who has been working with SOAR since 2020. She initially served as the acting president and now holds the position of a board member. Seroun has a Master’s Degree in International Relations & Global Studies from Northeastern University. She firmly believes that a shared vision and unity can bring true change.

During her free time, Seroun enjoys various activities such as writing poetry, taking belly dance classes, and cooking for her family and friends.

Ani Ohanian

Ani Ohanian was born and raised in Fresno, California. She holds a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Social Emotional Learning and works as an English teacher in Clovis Unified. She has worked with a diverse range of students including Migrant Ed, English language learners, students with disabilities, etc. Teaching is a huge part of her life and a great passion of hers. She focuses on relationship building and making those critical connections with students who are in need of a role model, a lifeline or even just someone to call a friend.
