SOAR - Capítulo de Nueva York
El Capítulo de Nueva York se convirtió en parte de la familia SOAR en abril de 2013 y abarca los cinco distritos de la ciudad de Nueva York. La historia de los armenios en la ciudad de Nueva York se remonta a 1834 cuando Khachadur Osganian llegó del Imperio Otomano. Osganian, con una educación misionera protestante, vino a Nueva York para estudiar en la recién establecida Universidad de Nueva York. En 1841 comenzaron a llegar a Nueva York los primeros inmigrantes de Armenia. En el transcurso de las próximas décadas, miles de personas más llegaron a establecerse principalmente en Nueva York (y Massachusetts). A diferencia de la mayoría de las otras minorías étnicas que se establecieron en la ciudad y se mudaron con bastante frecuencia, los armenios y otras personas del Mediterráneo oriental se establecieron en el extremo sur de Nueva York (conocido hoy como el distrito financiero). Esta área pronto se conoció como el Barrio Sirio dominado por cristianos sirios y libaneses, así como por armenios. Hoy en día, la ciudad de Nueva York es el hogar de aproximadamente 40,000 armenios.

Kristina Chevian is a proud Armenian, and loves being involved in the community and being surrounded by her Armenian friends and family. She holds a role in the advertising industry and has a degree in Consumer Behavior from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. From a young age she had always wanted to be involved in working with and helping children as her mom was a Montessori school teacher. Kristina saw how fulfilling and necessary it is for young children to have adults that support them and want them to flourish.

Nicole Tirakian es de Nueva York. Como armenia de primera generación, su cultura y religión siguen siendo una constante en la vida diaria. Trabaja en la industria del desarrollo inmobiliario y asiste al programa de maestría de NYU a tiempo parcial, mientras trabaja a tiempo completo. Su amor por los niños ha sido evidente desde una edad temprana. Los niños siguen estando muy cerca del corazón de Nicole y ella ha trabajado con niños con discapacidades, que son vistos como “regalos”, desde la educación temprana. Quería ayudar a los niños, específicamente a los huérfanos, de una manera impactante, lo que la llevó a unirse a SOAR.

Tigran is a seasoned content creator and marketing leader with over 15 years of experience branding advertising campaigns for a broad range of industries including financial services, technology, entertainment and fashion. Tigran was born in Yerevan, Armenia and grew up in Mexico before his family settled in California where he attended the University of California in Irvine to pursue a Biology degree. Post graduation, he soon started his professional career as a photographer which has led on an entrepreneurial journey working with prominent companies, leaders and influencers. Currently serving as the Chief Marketing Officer at Investall Group, he oversees business development and UX/UI design for world-class financial technology apps based in NYC.
Sophia Medzoyan

Sophia Medzoyan is an Armenian student completing her first year at Barnard College of Columbia University, where she plans to pursue a joint major in Human Rights and Gender Studies with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. She hopes to contribute positively to her community through SOAR while she is in New York City.
At college, Sophia is a member of the Columbia Armenian Society and participates in a dance group that performs traditional Armenian folk dance.
Ripsime Biyazyan
Ripsime is a nonprofit and international development specialist with 10 years of experience working. Ripsime consults nonprofits in fundraising, event planning, and management with her LLC, St. Hripsime Consulting.
Ripsime holds a Masters of Arts from Columbia University in Global Thought with an emphasis on Development Economics and a Bachelors from Occidental College in Los Angeles in Diplomacy and World Affairs.
Emma McKinney
Emma es una orgullosa armenia de segunda generación y nativa del área de la ciudad de Nueva York. Recientemente recibió su licenciatura en ingeniería biomédica y se graduó con honores de la Universidad de Yale, y ha trabajado tanto en investigación clínica como en funciones de estrategia de ciencias biológicas. Emma se inspira tanto en sus lazos familiares como en su amor por trabajar con niños en su participación en los esfuerzos de SOAR para apoyar a los armenios huérfanos.
Lilit Paranyan
Lilit is an experienced SEO content writer, linguist, and creative wordsmith with a passion for crafting compelling content, captivating copy, and flawless translations that resonate with diverse audiences worldwide. She is currently employed with Jansen Webconcepts.
Lilit earned her Bachelor of Russian Language and Literature and Foreign Languages from Yerevan State Linguistic University and earned her MA in Faculty of International Relations and Law from the China Foreign Affairs University. She is fluent in English, Russian, and Armenian.
Tsoler Terzian
Tsoler es nativa de Beirut, Líbano y se mudó a Estados Unidos cuando tenía cuatro años. Asistió a la Universidad de Georgia y recibió una Licenciatura en Administración de Empresas en Cadena de Suministro y Operaciones. Después de graduarse de UGA en 2017, Tsoler se ofreció como voluntaria en Armenia durante cuatro meses con la organización Birthright Armenia en Ereván y Gyumri. Actualmente, trabaja como Gerente de Proyectos de Implementación y reside en la ciudad de Nueva York. Tsoler está muy emocionada de continuar con sus contribuciones a Armenia a través de su participación en SOAR.
