Special Gifts Program

In addition to our conventional method of financial donations, SOAR is pleased to offer a Special Gifts Program. This Program includes bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, donor-advised funds, endowments, in lieu of flowers, retained life estates, scholarships, and wealth replacement trusts. October 2011:

Thank you to the family and friends of Mania Arabatlian for their in lieu of gifts donations on the occasion of Mania's 50th birthday. Two thousand dollars were earmarked for educational expenses at the Our Lady of Armenia Center in Gyumri. Happy birthday Mania, and thank you!

July 2011:

SOAR would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Maggie Merdjanian (who serves on SOAR's National Board of Directors) and Steve Odabashian for their $500 in lieu of wedding favors donation, made in the memory of Steve's father, Dr. Arthur Odabashian, and Maggie's grandfather, Shant Adjemian. Congratulations to Maggie and Steve on their July 23rd marriage!

June 2011

SOAR would like to express its deepest condolences to the family of Janet Sariyan, on the occasion of her passing. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who made In Lieu of Flowers contributions to SOAR in Janet's name. More than $1,400 was donated in her memory.

March 2011

SOAR would like to express its deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Zohrab Marashlian, who passed away on March 11, 2011. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Darlene Marashlian for the in memoriam contributions made to SOAR in the name of Mr. Marashlian. More than $7,200.00 has been donated to date, with $5,000.00 earmarked for the Our Lady of Armenia Center in Gyumri and $2,000.00 for the Javakh Summer Day Camp in Akhakalak, Georgia. Mr. Marashlian had a deep affection for orphaned Armenian children, and these gifts will go a long way toward helping this population.

August 2010:


In 2009, we became involved in the efforts of the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief, an organization created to help offer humanitarian relief to orphaned children living in Armenia. Both of us have been touched by these beautiful children in various ways over the years, and felt called to do more. In every smile these children show, we are reminded just how blessed we are to have had the unconditional love of our parents. And now, in honor of our wedding day, we have made a donation to this honorable organization. Our donation will be going towards the facilities that house children with special needs.





July 2008:

May 2008:

SOAR would like to express its deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Garbis Karaghossian, on the occasion of his passing. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Hasmik Karaghossian for the In Lieu of Flowers contributions made to SOAR in the name of Mr. Karaghossian. More than $3000 has been donated to date. Mr. Karaghossian had a deep affection for orphaned Armenian children, and these gifts will go a long way toward helping this population.

Thank you to the family and friends of Seta Anahid Bardakjian for their in lieu of gifts donations on the occasion of Seta's Christening. We are particularly grateful to Nerces and Tanya Bardakjian, the proud parents, for thinking of SOAR during this special time. Nearly $3400 was received!

May 2007:
